Well only one really.

The recent Parasitic choke threads on here, as opposed to older threads,
were interesting and reasonably concise. I appreciate well enough that there
are likely many unknowns that make calculating the ideal PC somewhat
difficult. That said I am interested in the basic theory and selection of
components, particularly resistors.

If we accept that in any given design the components used have been
'reasonably' well chosen, and worked well enough when new then there would
seem little point in going too far to 'improve' it. It does seem though as
if the preferred carbon composition resistors are no longer easily found. I
appreciate that there are specialist resistors that will do the job, Globar
being one trade name often mentioned, but these are even harder to locate
than carbon composition 2 watt resistors, at least they are here. What other
choices are reasonable? What do Ameritron fit in their AL80. 82, 572 etc
amplifiers? Anybody else still selling tube amplifiers, what do they use?

Having seen a picture of the inside of an AL80 it looks as if a regular 3
watt or so carbon film resistor is used, appeared to be 100 ohm. Why would
using carbon film be a bad idea?
