Agree with all comments; Ed, especially, is right on.
Unlike Ed's case, for ETO's 2nd generation MRI linear amps we used
3CX15000B7's modified with a smaller (5 kW)cooler. Reason was need for ~25
kW very linear PEP w/relatively low duty cycle & dissipation.
Those tubes, as well as 8877's selected/tested for specific parameters in
earlier, smaller MRI amps, were "Y" designated.
