Tom:
What you are seeing on Ebay is the Johnson 247 socket which is part of the
Eimac SK-2210 air socket system. The 247 base typically sells in the $30 range.
However, if you are building an amp using the 8877, you need the grid contact
clips which are very hard to find and quite expensive. Also, if you do not use
the SK-2210, you will have to make a suitable system using metal standoffs to
put the socket below the chassis. You can build your own but it is a heck of a
lot of work (I've done it). It is far easier to buy a used or new SK-2210
socket system.
RF parts sells a new SK-2210 for $95. See the link to their catalog below:
http://www.rfparts.com/sockets.html
Some times you can find these sockets, or similar ones, on the used or surplus
market where they sell for $30 to $35.
