I have personally used both the 1/8th and the 3/16" material for 8877's,
3CX3000's, 3CX1200's and plan on using it with my latest project, a pair of
4CX1500B's and I have found that the increased stiffness of the 3/16 stuff
helps it stay in place and it doesn't flop around like the 1/8 stuff. I
would agree that for those out there building with tubes similar in size to
the 8874, that 1/8 might be preferable. I am planning on using the 3/16,
not only for the chimneys but also for an overhead plenum, which will allow
the hot exhausted air to exit out the back of the RF deck instead of
straight up, which will allow other gear to be placed on the top of the
deck.
Just MHO, (plus, I have some stuff to sell!!)
