Robin,
Lou - W1QJ - modified an AL-80B for me for 6M. It easily does a KW, although I
have been running it at about 650W - driven from my 20W XV-50 transverter. He
did an excellent job of converting the AL-80B. He used much of the existing
circuitry - power supply, metering, ALC etc while installing a new tuned input
circuit and a new tank circuit. I like the 3-500ZG because it is "instant on"
and doesn't require a several minute warm-up time. I think he said some were
also modifying the AL-80A. He did an outstanding job with the project and was
really a pleasure to work with.
Hope this gives you another idea.

Hi All,
I have a friend in New England who's looking for a legal limit 6m amp
project. His description of what he's looking for is:
I would be interested to know "what is design " and "how much ".
Has to be something other than a SB-220 mod'd.
Prefer Russian GS35B or such animal. I have ALL the parts to
build, to save time it would be great to find a chassis less tube(s)
even less HF parts if it were HF PA.
Leads, anyone?
Thank you,
Robin Midgett K4IDC
