Aron,
A diode across the meter will usually work on sensitive
meters. Connect the diode's cathode to the negative terminal
so it will conduct if the voltage across the meter (and
diode) exceeds about 0.6v. Experiment to see which diode
works best with your particular meter and/or meter circuit.
