Hi Dave

According to Japanese manual of  IC-746 it can controll a linear amp
by using a "send jack" located at the rear-panel.

The send jack is using a relay capable of switching DC 16V-2A and
its center-pin will be grounded when IC-746 is in transmit mode.

I do not know about the transmitting sequence of LA-1000 but the
send jack will be a help.
