Group,
I have an MFJ-984, 3 KW antenna tuner I would like to trade.
This tuner looks good, and comes with a copy of the manual. The previous
owner told me the front panel meters work erratically. When I have used
it, they didn't seem to work at all, however I have always used low
power. The meters may be an easy fix, but I don't use them anyway so I
never pursued it. Operationally, the tuner works great.
Anyway, the 984 is an older model that is no longer in production. From
what I can find, it is very similar to the Dentron MT3000a. Basically it
is a very heavy duty, high power manual tuner. It has an 18 position
tapped inductor, and a dummy load. The antenna selector switch switches
between 3 coax inputs, 1 single wire input, or 1 balanced line input. It
also has an SWR/Power meter, and an RF amp meter. The meters didn't work
in my test, but I was only using a 5 watt rig so it may not have been
enough power for it. I can also send pics, inside and out, if you
desire. I have a broad band connection, so can send as many pics as you
like.
I don't own an amp for HF. This is the main reason I'm looking to trade
this tuner. I don't plan on running high power anytime soon, and I do a
lot of portable stuff so a smaller tuner would better suit my needs. I
don't usually take my rigs back-packing. I normally drive up to a
location, set up the rigs and operate. But this is a BIG tuner, not
something I would want to Rover with:-) What I would like to have is a
small, auto tuner for portable use. Must be rated for at least 100
watts, and in perfect working condition. I'm not overly concerned with
the cosmetics, as long as I can depend on it in the field... Looking
over the current models, I like the LDG AT-100Pro, Z-11Pro, or maybe the
AT-897. I would prefer one of these, basically in that order, but would
consider others. What do you have to offer?
Update: I have had several inquiries, but nothing solid. Upon using a
full 100 watts [all I have to offer...], the RF amp meter seems to work
fine. But still no response from the Watt/SWR meter.
