First off thanks to Tom W8JI for a very informative post.

I call Ameritron to get the official info on the 10/12M mod and while I had
the guy on the phone, his name was Ron, I asked about the tap telling him my
line voltage was running from 244-248VAC and asking would the 245VAC be the
appropriate choice. I was thinking he would repeat Tom's (W8JI) advice,
which would dictate selecting 250VAC, I was really surprised when he said
you could use 245 but it wouldn't run as "efficiently" and he would suggest
the 240VAC tap. I reminded him that I was at times getting 248 off the grid
and asked if the 240 selection wouldn't make for hard use on components. His
reply was that their line voltage at the shop was 252VAC and they had no
problems running the amps on the 240VAC tap.

So needless to say I am left wondering what to think. Although my better
judgment tells me to at least go the 245VAC route, if not Tom's (W8JI) full
250VAC selection, despite what the guy at Ameritron said.

By the way, a bit of new info, just before sending this email off I decided
to check the line voltage (it was 246 at 9am) surprise, surprise it is now
reading 249VAC a new high. That gives me an average of 247VAC over five
readings at different times of day.

Peace
James - AD1L
