Hal's question: "Why in the Hell was 11 meters ever taken?" One reason was a lack of use. Many amateurs used crystals and the old transmitters were built with multipliers, not mixers, thus a 3.5 mHz or 7 mHz crystal would allow use on 7, 14, 21 and 28 mHz.
