There's also a higher melting point soft solder called Comsol: goes about 270
C from memory. It's useful for caulking seams and so on in small copper
boilers, but I could see uses for it in tank circuits and the like. You do need
a hot iron for it, though. Probably one of the really old ones with a great
chunk of copper heated in a flame!
Originally, 'brazing' was done with spelter, which is a finely divided brass.
You had to be careful with that on copper, because you got dangerously close to
the melting point of the copper.
