umph - well if the typical off-the-shelf AL-80B sits idle at 2900v to the
plate (I do not know if this is its normal operating voltage), 1600w input
would seem to be a lot of plate current for 1 tube.  2700v under load
would be around 590mA if i'm doing my math properly.  No need for pesky
light bulbs in the shack.
