For those who expressed concern about their existing L-4/7 power switch, I would suggest that you consider the addition of a step-start circuit in the primary of the h.v. transformer. I have been told that one measurement was in the momentary 100A region and if that was a good measurement, it could easily be the source of the switch failures. Regardless, a step-start circuit would be prudent in any case.
