Amen, Bob! I tune for full smoke out the door, then adjust the loading cap. until both the forward power and grid current drop about one mark on the meters, and I'm done! As Rich paraphrased, maximum power out and best efficiency in a linear amplifier do not necessarily occur at the IP dip. I haven't heard or read about dipping anything since the good ole days of class C. (((73))) Phil K5PC
