The mention, a few weeks ago, of the possibility that the Chinese might
quit 3-500 production and the news that Henry is getting out of tube amp
production are interesting. When I heard the 3-500 news I began to wonder who besides hams, still uses tubes for relatively low power RF generation at HF frequencies, as it appears that broadcasters are moving to s.s. rigs. I would not be surprised if most users of commercial equipment go solid state before too long; many have already done so. I doubt if the ham market alone, is large enough to keep low power RF tube (< 5 KW) production going. Hopefully there are users I'm not aware of.
