I'm getting ready to do the QSK mod on a TL922 amp.
The amp has already had most of the well documented modifications
(noted
by AG6K / others) and changes made --- QSK is all that remains to be
done. I would be interested in hearing from others who have performed
the QSK mod to this amp with any tips, suggestions or ideas they may
have discovered in the process.
A good place for the HS relay(s) mtg bracket is the space where the
original RF relay was (relay saved for step-start). A good place for
the ECBS is near the zener diode (which is removed). The zener diode
heatsink can be used for mtg Q1 (TIP-33) the cathode bias switch. The
rest of the ECBS components can be mounted on an adjacent long, thin
strip of perfboard. RF connections to the vacuum relay should be made
with an S-shaped link of soft copper foil in order to minimize sound
conduction to the chassis.
