You're most likely overdriving it -- if memory serves, you can't drive it with
the same levels in
SSB that you can in FM because it's running class C. Try driving it with 3 to
5W instead and see
what happens. I run a 30W in/160W out Mirage and they suggest 10 to 15W of SSB
drive.
