Thanks to all who replied to my query regarding software for drawing
schematics. Most of the packages mentioned are targeted to designing
digital circuits, and the eventual production of printed circuit board
designs and boards. Thus far, DesignWorks Lite looks like a good bet, as it
has a pretty good selection of symbols for good old "analog" devices like
inductors, capacitors, relay points, etc. There are no tube symbols, but I
was able to create one very quickly using their component editor. If you
try to use this package to draw something like an amplifier schematic, make
sure to get all the components located where you want them the first time
around. Moving components after all the "wires" are connected can result in
automatic generation of connection points and wires and a resulting mess of
meaningless signal paths.
