yes they are very effective---i had to make a very simple, quick slow start when i first fired up a pole pig transformer into a new power supply for my 2x813 amp, it would trip the 20 amp breaker (120 volt), or smoke a 3 amp rectifier in the stack. just used a desk lamp with a 75 watt lamp in it--used a common light switch in a box to short it out after voltage reached 1000 volts or so--works great. but sad to say i haven't taken time to upgrade this slightly messy approach with something more proper. after all it's only been 2 1/2 years or so--hi--hi 73 to the reflector w5set steve |
