?  I have no idea of what car mfgs r up to, Dan - but Miss Cleo might 
know whasup..  

-  When VW changed from 6V to 12V, they reportedly came close to going to 
24V instead.  Since GE already made a wide range of lamps for 24v, the 
upgrade would have been easy.
