If you cannot find a source of ceramic tube, then another possibility is to
make use of Pyrex glass tube, available from scientific glass suppliers, this
tube is available in many diameters, out to about 4 inches, with a thick wall,
it is supplied in 3 foot lengths. Cutting the tube to the correct length, and
boring holes in the glass for mounting, is an easy job for a scientific glass
technician, the glass tube supplier would be able to supply the names of
suitable glass workers.
If you must use a plastic tube, as a former, then it would be prudent to
sleeve the wire being used, by means of the PTFE sleeving, available, in the
UK, from RS Components, Electromail, and other parts suppliers.
Best wishes, John G3JVC.
