re: unknown tube input impedance.
-
I'm in the process of writing an article which will
be part rewrite of my Dentron GLA-1000 upgrade/
update and conversion. It also contains a bit of
criticism about conversions like the Svetlana
GLA-1K and similar because they don't actually
deal with tuned input and a few other serious
issues (glitch, meter protection and similar
items as detailed on Rich's and the sonic web
pages)
-
I've found that writing such an article without bias
and original author attacks has been an education
and quite the chore. Something well worth the effort...
-
I've written two versions so far, trashing both after
each was completed because it would stir more
dust up than I care to deal with at the moment.
-
So, I've revised my plans and put my attention
toward the Svetlana EL-509 input Z value (not
given by Svetlana) and methods for determining
unknown input impedances for tubes in g-grid.
-
Practical methods for determining unknown drive
impedances are starting to bear fruit in text by Bill
Orr and Eimac. Anyone with additional source
information might drop me a note. I'm working
through the paper values I have now, then I hope
to "jig up" a tube or two to test the result.
-
Better to know the path than guess where the
stones are...

as
a mod. in some sweep tube amps??? carl / kz5ca
