Several things can cause fireworks Paul.
Gassy tubes, improper antenna relay sequencing, arcs or other
intermittents in external hardware on the output side, poor
connections, exciter transients, improper loading, dirt and debris in
critical HV spots, defective components, a series-resonance in a
choke, and so on.
That's why I ask what else is changed instead of just the
suppressors. Often times people fix the problem by repairing
damaged components, and think they added a "cure" with
nichrome.
