To be perfectly fair to Henry, the first page in the manual has always stated
that
the CW output is 500 watts.. The SS-750 puts out more power than Ten-Tec,
Metron, and SGC. All it needs is SWR protection. The VFD and other type watt
meters can do this nicely by opening the PTT circuit at > 2:1 vswr. I remember
all too well, in several Metrons that I have owned, that exceeding 65 watts
drive,
the input matching resistor bank would desolder themselves and fall to the
bottom
of the case!
