For a home brew amp, I would go for the cheapest tube or tubes that will do
it, but I'm mean!!
I currently use 4-250A's - a brand new boxed pair cost me $40, a used
unboxed pair
cost nothing. For 10 metres, I have a single 4-400A, which cost $50, but the
spare I got
free. My new amp is a 4CX1000A; I got two used good ones for nothing. See
what you can
scrounge, and design around that.
