Do you suppose there has been confusion of mils with mm?
One mil = .001 inch
One mm = .001 meter
So one mm = 39.37 mils --- I think.

No, I got that from a data chart. Common sense tells us that #39 is very
FINE indeed--hair like size. Nothin' close to 1 mm.
