Hi Guys,
I had a capacitor flashover (a couple of times)on my 160 feed system and the
amp went snap, crackle and pop. I discovered a blown grid shunt resistor and
replaced it but I have no rf output and think the tubes may have blown.
First question: Is there any way to verify if the tubes are gone using a Ohm
meter on the tube pins?
Second: If the tubes are gone is there a source for medical pulls of
3CX400/A7 or 800/A7 tubes that would make the repair reasonable or look for
a old amp with a pair of 3-500's?
Third: If there is a source, and either tube is available, will the
MLA-2500 P.S. handle a pair of 3CX800's?
I really like the amp, it fits just right in the operation location but at
the cost of New 8875's or even 3CX400-800's its way out of my financial
reach.
Any thoughts??
