Sorry, Ian, no because it is a strict definition, applicable in all circumstances - such as, for example, broadband ground searching radar. As applied to amateur radio, then your simplification generally applies to today's technology. It's very dangerous to modify a definition or a meaning to fit one particular circumstance.
