Alan says; >Guess the same criticism could be leveled at the 4CX1500B for that matter. And the 4CX1000. But both of those tubes were aimed at grounded cathode applications with very low grid dissipation. Anyhow, the 3CX800 apparently has no problems IF USED CORRECTLY - and to my mind, that means protection. I guess the days of tubes like 807s that would withstand major abuse have gone - instead we get higher gain, smaller size and better efficiency in tubes. 73 Peter G3RZP -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.com/ampfaq.html Submissions: amps@contesting.com Administrative requests: amps-REQUEST@contesting.com Problems: owner-amps@contesting.com Search: http://www.contesting.com/km9p/search.htm |
