These two parameters are probably the most important. The old rule says that
if you can lift it, it's not big enough! That's perhaps going too far, but
the other question is 'What do you want it for?'
SSTV or RTTY really cane things. DXing (where, presumably, one transmits
intermittently for short periods, unless you're a European), you may well
get away with a much smaller xfmr. Contesting is almost as bad as RTTY.
BTW, Rich isn't joking about shorting the primary while measuring the
resistance of the secondary, and even more so measuring primary resistance -
short the secondary! You're unlikely to break down the insulation, but you
can inadvertently get a nasty shock.
