I received a mailing from the Kanthal Globar company. It is the same stuff
that Cesiwid advertised, just a sticker with Kanthal/Sandvik Company on it.
The web site for Globar info appears to be:

http://www.kanthal.se/reconstr.html

But it isn't working yet...

They make an interesting package that I hadn't seen before. It's a flat
globar resistor. The series 500SP noninductive bulk ceramic slab resistor
dissipates 15 Watts per inch of length. It can be had in 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and
10 inch lengths, about 1 inch wide, and 0.25 inches thick. It is available
with right angle tabs, with straight end metallization tabs, or in packaged
assemblies. The shortest version can be had up to 80 Ohms, For instance,
the 2 inch model 502SP can withstand 30 Watts at 40 deg C, a peak of 150
Joules in less than 10 milliseconds, 900 Volts across it. Would make a
nice energy limiting plate resistance between the supply and RF deck.

Has anyone used these for dummy loads or for parasitic suppressor
applications? Seems a lot more compact than the tubular Globar resistors I
am familiar with.
