Dick,
Ham Radio magazine, July 1986, page 50 has a great article by Lauren Libby,
KX0O (at least he was then) using a 3CX1000 with a Pi-L in a 6M amp. The
same component parameters would apply.
There is also a great article about a 50 MHz 8877 with a pi-L on the Web at
http://user.super.net.uk/~equinox/8877.html. Incredily, the author is
never identified (it might be GJ4ICD). This article refers to the KX0O
article and the designs are very similar electrically.
I'm in the process of converting a homebrew 80-10 8877 to 50 MHz and I'm
using info from both of these articles.
