Thanks very much for the information. I am gathering together parts to
build a plate supply, and was sort of leaning towards a string of
electrolytics anyway, due to their availability from places like Mouser.
I have already bought a 2200V 1.2A surplus transformer from Fair Radio.
It has a 1600V tap also, so I plan to use it in a supply to provide 3000 or
2500 volts, probably switch selected. This is the first step in homebrewing
a KW amp.
Currently, I plan to use a pair of 3-500Zs, partly because of their
relatively low cost; I must admit that your recent post about bad batches in
94 and then more recently has given me pause ;-)
