No way Rich. Doing it this way will in many instances result in
class "C" operation. You were on the right track when you spoke about using
a step down xformer to lower the drive voltage. That works, but this
comment wont reduce IMD etc.
Also you are wrong about playing games with the screen voltage. In
all the references I have read, and so have you, the grid voltage is to be
set to get the specified resting plate current.
