Red silicone RTV is perfect for bonding this material. You may want to
visit a local industrial supply house to see what they have there
instead of the McMaster Carr option ... strips of foamed red silicone
rubber with self adhesive backing are made that are perfect for sealing
the edges of access doors, etc. While the red rubber might withstand
momentary contact with 1200F gun barrels, I don't recommend using it
much over 350-400F for extended periods. It gets hard and crumbles.
