Hi to all The answer to the initial power spike is a fixed ALC into the transceiver. Using a fixed voltage the time constant in the rig no longer determines the initial high power spike. Combining this fixed voltage with a DC voltage produced by the peak RF into the grid of the PA prevents the grid from going positive while protecting the amp from the initial spike on key down. This is particularly bad for low drive tubes like 3CX800's. such as in the Alpha 87 73 de NO2T - Jerry -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.com/ampfaq.html Submissions: amps@contesting.com Administrative requests: amps-REQUEST@contesting.com Problems: owner-amps@contesting.com Search: http://www.contesting.com/km9p/search.htm |
