I do not agree at all on this issue, Carl, so I'm gonna try to tell you
why:
A '4by15' (8281) works best with an anode-v supply of 10k. IMO, 14k piv
rated rectifier strings WOULD be needed. However, the 8281's anode-I
current requirement of 6A would be somewhat easier to meet with 1N5408s
in a FWB rectifier configuration. Using microwave-oven rectifier blocks,
one would probably need at least 4 in parallel per FWB leg to reliably
deliver 6A. The cost of (16) $15 rectifier blocks is $240. My cost for
(56) 1N5408's is $6.16.
