Hi !
Considering adding a RF Applications "Match Alert" unit to
protect my AL-1200/PIN-5 QSK from "dumb op errors" ...
The "Match Alert" unit OPENS the keying line from the rig to
the amp when it detects a VSWR above a predetermined value.
So the amp goes "off line" but the rig is still in line ...
With a NON-QSK Ameritron (or other makes/models ?) that's FB.
But if the rig/amp keying line is left off (or OPEN) with the
present QSK setup, the "protection circuit" in the QSK board will
blow if the amp is in line. Or so it seems at present ...
Anyone have first hand knowledge of using a "Match Alert" with a
similar equipped Ameritron unit ?
Thanks and 73
