I bought a Clipperton-L new in 1980 and it has performed very well for me
with no breakdowns. At about a kw in I get about 600w out (cw). At about 1.5kw
in I get about 1kw out (ssb). I think this is about right-right?
A guy I know who operates cb in the ding-a-ling portion of the band says he
gets 1.5kw
out. Where should four 572B tubes operate?
I also notice that on 80 & 40 the load control is at max capacitance for max
output.
This means I can not increase loading to see if I can get more out. Does
this indicate that
the parallel caps have changed values or gone kablooie?
The one page tuneup procedure in the manual leaves a little to be desired.
Any ideas appreciated.
