Comments:
ICOM IC-756PROIII and Tokyo Hy-Power HL-550FX set for 400 watts output.
Cushcraft R8 Vertical up 4m.
The ARRL 10m Contest is always fun when the band is alive. It was great fun in
earlier sunspot cycles when I lived in New Jersey and could work a lot of
European stations.
>From Texas, I cannot hear or run much in Europe with my R8 vertical and only
>400
watts output, but this year I could run the USA and Canada, especially on
Saturday. Ten meters is wide enough, and the propagation is good enough, that
even I can find a clear spot and run stations.
The band was simultaneously open to the Northeast and the West Coast. At
times, the band was also open to Minnesota and Wisconsin, or on Sunday, W4.
The band closed shortly after sunset both nights, but short windows were
available to the Far East, ZL and VK to provide multipliers. It was worth
staying on until the end, because BD7MM, HL2WA and RT0F were all worked in the
last hour.
Thank you all for the QSOs and see you in the next one.
73, Frank WA2VYA
