Comments:
Well, that was fun! I made a couple of strategic errors, including starting too
late in the mornings and missing the EU openings. The band closed earlier than
I expected, especially on Friday. At 0000Z on Saturday, I worked VY1CO right
away (I happened to hear him just before the contest started). Then I moved and
called CQ, and then came the run - for about 10 minutes, and then, POOF,
nothing! Struggled along working JAs, BAs, and backscatter W6s, and whatever
else I could. Said to heck with it and had dinner.
Had a very nice run of JAs on Saturday mid-afternoon (local) - first time in
many years! And these were the presumably smaller stations - giving me anywhere
from serial numbers 90 all the down to 2.
If I'd put in considerably more effort, I think 1000 Qs would have been
obtainable. Maybe next year.
One more note: my wife Joan N6KIM got on for a while on Sunday morning, SSB,
and contributed another 1100 points to the SCCC totals!
