Absolutely had a blast from NP4TT this weekend!
I've been without any HF antennas here for a few months, since the HOA made me
remove the last one. So I installed a secret new "stealth" dipole for
10 and 40 on Saturday (don't tell anyone!). Got it done exactly at the half-way
point of the contest (in the dark at 0000Z Sunday). With lots of house guests
and other commitments, I only operated maybe 8 hours total, 100 W, and only on
10 and 40.
But I was really impressed with how well my new stealth dipole is working! I
managed to maintain some solid rate at times (160+ hours and 240+ 10-minute
spurts). And that was despite being super rusty (no serious CW operations in 5
years!) and having never used N1MM seriously in a CW contest. At times, I felt
like a complete lid as I kept hitting the wrong buttons. Started getting the
hang of it at the end.
Best part was putting so many familiar calls in the log after such an absence. I
really missed all you guys! It feels good to be back.
