Comments:
First off, a massive thank you to Tina and Tim for being wonderful hosts this
weekend!
This contest is probably a tie with ARRL DX for my favorite contest. After doing
multi ops from the old NX6T hilltop and ND7K for the last few years I was given
the fantastic opportunity by Tim to go single op this year. I took that offer
very seriously because you don’t get invited to ND7K to lose a contest (I
think Tim had a plank setup on the new pool in case top three wasn't thought to
be in reach at the end of the contest).
Thanks to Scott, K7ZO, for all the log analysis he did and the time we spent
talking about it in the airport on the way home from ZF1A. Dan, N6MJ, as always
gave his invaluable advice on where to be and when to be there. Special shoutout
to K5TR for even more insight on the strategy for this contest and congrats to
his team for an awesome effort in the multi cat (head to head mutli op race next
year?).
Conditions were great this year with 10m being a star. Sunday afternoon I sat
and ran about 60 tech calls in a row with a SR#1 definitely a highlight to work
all of those soon to be contesters. 40m was great. I probably should have been
there a little earlier on Sunday night. I find it very interesting that I got
N6MJ but no KL9A in the log… just saying ;)
The Icom 7610's were great to use during this contest as they continue to prove
their value! I used N1MM for the exchange window and the program was reliable
throughout the contest.

Station host notes: Levi has shown himself as one heck of a hard training
operator. From our first interactions in ZF to this day he has continued to work
incredibly hard at improving his contesting abilities. After we took SS Phone MS
three times in a row I decided it was time that Levi got an opportunity to show
himself in SOAB.
The goal was to win... it's the mindset I ask the ops to arrive with and
execute... but the reality was that K5TR and W7WA would stare down the young
motivated op and the hardware. Levi knew this and studied both of their
operations. He sought out his solid counselors and kept a positive attitude in
face of the harsh reality of what the OG's will often do to the younger ops.
He worked hard knowing that WH7Z was in front of him not allowing the heard Q
counts dissuade him. He wasn't aware of WC6H being ahead during the first day.
He just stuck to his plan, worked the second radio hard, and utilized the gear
he had at hand hard.
Great job all around guys! Hoping we can convince K5TR to go MS next year
straight up so we can challenge their excellent operation and amazing op
skills... and what a great 3830 writeup George! If we do this, ND7K will be
showing up as the underdog for sure!
73, Tim / N6WIN
