Comments:
I lost my voice a week before the contest and seriously investigated software to
do my voice transmissions...but not enough time to install all of the files.
Friday night...my voice came back to a RASP...so programmed the memory keys on
the IC7610 the best I could. Not hearing much local gossip on the nets about
anyone participating in the SS SSB...so I wanted to put Alberta on the air to
help some get the SWEEP. After the contest started, I found that the recorded
messages were too slow and raspy...so more and more I just used the headset and
talked low into the mic. I was running on 20m when someone informed me that I
was close (in frequency) to a DXpedition somewhere....so I apologized and moved
up the band and then lost momentum. Surprised how many could hear my ground
mounted vertical, 10/15/20m beam at 24 feet and my 80m dipole at 10 feet. I have
acquired a 40 foot crank up tower...that should be going up in the spring....and
I should be able to clear the hill to the south for a shot at the horizon. Hope
I helped with those sweeps. GL everyone. Kevin VA6RCN (Royal Canadian Navy).
