Comments:
Tried SO2R for the first time in the CWSS with a manual headphone switch. (I
bought an "SO2R MINI" kit about 3 years ago which has sat on the same
shelf since then.) Intrigued by the CW experience, I decided to put it together
and hook it up for phone. Everything worked as advertised, and CBS shows 44
probable 2nd-radio Qs, which sounds about right. I don't think any runs were
compromised, so it's definitely a net positive. Lots of ideas to work on for
future improvements....
I lost my only aluminum antenna to a fire in June (10/15 duo-bander @30'). Put
up new dipoles for those bands last month. The new antenna category is now a
perfect fit. Was hoping for big things from 10m, and I started on that band,
but no joy. Certain places were loud, but not enough of them.
Looks like 0300Z is bedtime for the east half of the country -- I was cruising
along nicely until then, but the door closed all of a sudden. Propagation was
not to blame. Weird. See below:

I shut down at 0700 -- 2 hours earlier than my usual schedule.
Weirdest thing of all: The only section I missed was NM. I heard a couple of
people working someone that I couldn't hear. Bummer. AA5B and now K5TQ SKs in
the past year kinda disappears the NM Big River club. So it goes.
