Comments:
I find that the number of Q's I make in the first four hours is a good
bellwether for predicting how well I will do. This year, I was 50 Q's behind my
target. After a few more hours, I was more than 100 Q's behind. On top of that,
there were half a dozen "B" stations plus several "U"
stations with substantial leads including W7RN who was 101 Q's ahead!
Got the sweep thanks to a call from VO2AC just before 0600Z. At 0630Z I started
my long break. After 4 hours of laying in bed but not sleeping at all, I got up
and had a snack. I listened on 40M and was surprised to hear all kinds of
flutter. Checked WWV and saw the bad news.
I decided to carry on, knowing that strange things can happen during poor
conditions. Rates all day were 25 or 30 per hour instead of the 40-45 per hour I
normally get. Near the end, it looked like I might at least be able to break
200K points before log check but I fell short by one stinking QSO.
Congrats to N5ZO. Thanks to many GMCC members that I worked. Colorado was once
again well represented. All station equipment worked well, with no visits from
Murphy.
73 Randy K0EU (aka Ken in NAQP).
