Comments:
Park Portable - Elecraft KX3, 9.5 m end-fed 9:1 wire supported vertically in
tree.
Very casual weekend effort in 3 sessions: about an hour on Friday evening local
time interspersed with QRP CW activity (between 0040 and 0515z Sat), 3.25 hours
on Saturday afternoon local time (0145-0500z Sun), and 3 hours on late Sunday
morning local (2030-2330z).
10 meters was the best band for all of these sessions. S&P was quite
effective with most strong stations I heard - most running stations heard me on
my first or second call. I tried CQing numerous times, but could never get any
replies.
SSB contesting will never be a priority for me as long I operate QRP with
nondirectional antennas, but it was enjoyable to make a few contacts in an
unrestricted worldwide work-anyone contest.
Assisted category is pretty meaningless for my QRP activity - I don't think
PacketCluster gave me any contacts I didn't find by listening and using my
panadapter.
Thanks to all who pulled out my tiny signal - I definitely felt like a mouse
treading among elephants!
72/73, Bob in Honolulu
