Comments:
Last minute portable operation from the Tree People park above Studio City.
A 30' Spiderbeam pole held up a 100' doublet fed with CAT5e single twisted
pair.
The station consisted of a K3 @80 watts, GPL-27T battery, headphones, paddle,
paper and pen logging.
Things were humming along until I was half way through a QSO with N5KO. As I
started sending my exchange the "fresh" battery died. (Minutes before,
I had lugged a second battery from the car some 50 yards. Whew!) Sorry, Trey!
Turning the power down to 10 watts didn't choke the battery and I made a few
more Qs, but then threw in the towel.
Best DX was Dave, G4BUO, on 20. Thanks, OM!
The Sprint may not be for the faint of heart, but it sure is a lot of fun. Great
to have exchanges with great operators.
73,
David N6AN
