Comments:
This one was an experiment to see if enabling packet spots could improve my
S&P efficiency. The results were inconclusive. 20 and 15 meters were in good
shape, with way more EU stations than usual, and US stations on 20 were mostly
good and loud. Having spot information was indeed a nice crutch, but the sheer
number of spots, many for stations I couldn't hear, made for confusion. I found
myself tuning as usual rather than blindly jumping to spots on the bandmap.
And... it's also clear that additional information doesn't do much good if you
keep getting smoked when calling. In the end, my compromised high band antenna
situation still was the limiting factor in making S&P QSOs. The last 10
minutes on 40 meters were fun, though. I was able to get a nice run going and it
held up to the end of the session. More experimentation with using packet will
be in order next week for the 1300Z session. See everyone then.
