Comments:
K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. In 8/23
NAQP SSB, N3UM and W5MPB operated Multi-2.
We hoped to beat our 8/22 NAQP SSB results. We did, big time;
1.4 X as many Qs and 1.2 X as many mults for 1.7 X the claimed score.
SFI of 150, Kp of 2-3, and low QRN helped. But the driver was 1.6 X
as many Qs on 20 & 40 M. We did short supper breaks timed to ensure
one of us was on 20 or 40 when each band had good rates, run or click.
At 18Z start N3UM ran on 20 M for 57 of 96 Qs, then broke to eat at
2041Z. W5MPB 18-2011Z hopped between 15 & 40 M, clicking for 3 to 12 Qs
to clear one bandmap while the other filled. By 2011Z he had 37 Qs, 17
on 15 M + 20 on 40 M. By 2119Z he got 36 more 40-M Qs and broke to eat.
N3UM was back 2125-2258Z on 40 M and ran for 121 Qs at 79/hr, then got
35 Qs on 20 M 2303-0029Z. W5MPB was back 2207-2247Z for 14 20-M Qs,
then 32 40-M Qs 2300-0049Z, and our last 14 20-M Qs 0050-0130Z.
W5MPB then got 57 Qs on 40M, 0156-0428Z.
N3UM 0031-0254Z got 136 80-M Qs, 98 running at 82/hr. Then 0257-
0301Z he got 6 160-M Qs in 4 min, then 15 Qs on 80 M 0310- 0339Z.
>From 0341-0415Z 160 M was hot; 28 Qs, 12 in a run at 56/hr. Then
better on 80 M 0426-0437Z; 9 Qs to clear the bandmap. After 0437Z
it was slow; the last 160-M Q at 0450Z, and 6 more 40-M Qs by 0501Z.
Then at 0502Z 2 mults, HI on 40 M & WA on 80 M, got us a score claim
>100K. A Sign Unto Us; QRT. So we did. We missed AK, NM, & UT.
